Last week our Wisdom class jumped on the train to Cromford to see for themselves what life was like working for the famous Sir Richard Arkwright.

They were greeted off the train by guides in full period costume and took the short walk to the mill where they were transported back in time. They carded and spun cotton and picked up the tiny bits, just like children their age would have done in 1771! Some of them even signed contracts pledging to work there for the next 7 years!
